2013 and a new man cave

13 Jan

Just before Christmas I moved house, and I finally got a room for my gaming and media goodies (or junk as my partner calls it) , which means I have somewhere to paint. though since moving into the room its become quite obvious that I need some storage which will require a trip to Ikea for new shelving and a new desk.

Blood Angels

29 Nov

For the last 2 years I’ve been painting a Blood Angel army, but I quickly became bored of them. So much so that I’ve decided to sell them on e-bay. So before I get rid of them for good I decided to photograph them for the blog.

Irregular Magazine Issue 13

18 Nov

First of all, we’d like to start with an apology to all of our readers and contributors. We were not able to publish Irregular Magazine in Summer 2012, which we deeply regret. We believe we’ve got through the problems that made this impossible and are now back on track with regular publications!

Some people have been experiencing difficulties using ‘right-click > save as’ in their browser. Instead, click on the links to open the PDF in your browser, then use ‘File > save as’ to save it to your computer. Alternatively, download as a zip file.

Once again, we have another great issue, packed with excellent articles and tutorials. We have a really interesting look at the costs of producing limited miniatures runs and a discussion around
how to create scenarios for wargames, as well as a further look into the world of Magic: The Gathering.

We also have a painting guide for Clone Troopers in 15mm scale and a look at whether Airbrushing would be right for you. We also have a look into two different historical backgrounds – The Persian Empire and Trojan England (no, really! Well worth reading). We also priviledged to have an excellent piece on the future sport of Robo Basho, a world of 2115 where Giant Robots are piloted into combat in a heavy metal form of sumo!

Time to get reading – go on, download your copy now.

Its been a while

11 Nov

Hi all, I’ve not posted here for awhile now in fact I think it may be nearly 12 months since I last posted something. I’ve decided to change this blog slightly..I will still en devour to add posts about painting, but from now on there will  be posts based around non historical gaming, as my other blog is mainly concerned with history and historical gaming (http://musketswordpaint.com/). Therefore I decided to try an up the ratio of blog posts on here and write about my gaming in the realms of fantasy and sci-fiction as well.

The last 18 months have seen some massive changes in my personnel life, which has meant that my painting, gaming and writing has taken a hit..Musket, sword and paint blog has been sporadic over that period with blog posts…my gaming has spiraled down to virtually none existence and painting has been a long slog…I did managed to keep Irregular Magazine in reasonable shape, though this year the team had a period of where real life got in the way of things…

So I will be uploading a post later today looking back over the items I’ve managed to paint this year, as well what I have planned going into 2013. I will also add my first gaming article..so for now cheers and this blog is now active again..

Golden Demon & Euro Militaire Entries

16 Aug

With Euro and GD coming up, most of my time between now and September will be taken up with painting entries for both of these competitions. For Euro I’m still uming and arring about what I should paint, though I have started on a single historical, that of Ptve Hook from Empress Miniatures. I intend to recreate the scene from the film Zulu, of Hooky just before he climbs through the hole in the wall of the medical building to escape the Zulu warriors. I’m also contemplating painting a fantasy figure holding a torch, and placing her in a dungeon, surrounded by cobwebs. The plan is to do a lot of OSL, when I start this particular mini, I’ll place links to tutorials on OSL.

For GD I have finally decided on a High Elf Lord and  Sam with pony for LOTR. I really like the LOTR range of minis, in my humble opinion they are some of the best minis that Games Workshop produce. The Sam with pony is excetional nice as well, and I had to pinch/borrow this one from my wife’s grey hoard, which is a lot smaller than mine, because she’s been on mini purchasing ban since last year.

Painting Show IMP 2010

3 Aug

Well at the weekend Sheffield Irregulars held their annual painting show. I was there to help organise and man the Irregular Magazine stand. Visitors came from all over the UK , all of which had one thing in common, the love of painting miniatures.
